Summer is the hard season. Full afternoon sun on an operator box cooks the battery and the control board, and most of our heat-related Bee Cave calls land in July and August. Going into summer it is worth confirming the battery is healthy rather than waiting for it to strand you.
Look at the safety sensors. The photo eyes sit low on each side of the opening. If a web, a branch, tall grass or a shifted bracket is breaking the beam, the gate reads it as an obstruction and refuses to close. Clearing the lenses is often the whole fix.
Check the power source. If the gate runs on solar, look at the panel for dust or an oak branch that has grown over it since installation. If it runs off house power, check the breaker before anything else.
